 River Pup is a special place for pet lovers. We are constantly thinking of fun events for dogs and their families. We are always open to suggestions. A couple of fun events we have had include Yappy Hour and a Biscuit Buffet. Many treats were enjoyed by all as well as money was raised and donated to the local Humane Society. It's always heartwarming to help other animals in need. Here at River Pup we love dogs as much as they love us. So we believe it's vital to give back...we support and sponsor activities and fundraising events which benefit local animal shelters, rescue groups (such as Quad City Greyhound Adoption) and other philanthropic organizations (such as Make-a-Wish, Bi-State Literacy Council and American Cancer Society Discovery Shop). We enjoy supporting events that are hosted by non-profit organizations that support the well being of animals. Earth Day is everyday! Love your dog, love our earth. Pick up...clean up...recycle. River Pup is dedicated to preserving the environment that belongs to all of our animal and human friends. Many of our products are not only made in the USA but are made of recycled products such as toys by West Paw and Planet Dog as well as beds by Big Shrimpy and West Paw. During April, we celebrated Earth Day by giving away biodegradable poo bags. We handed out over 1,000 free bags. Don't pollute our land fills - use biodegradable poo bags available at River Pup. The QC Greyhound Adoption group will be here with their wonderful & loveable dogs. We will be raising money for this not-for-profit group, hopefully setting up some adoptions as well as offering a discount that day to any greyhound owners. Fall Market Days in LeClaire - October 10-12th. Sidewalk sales, live entertainment, demonstrations, and much more! A few past events here at River Pup: On July 26, 2008 LeClaire welcomed over 25,000 people to our town for The Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI). It is the longest (472 miles), largest and oldest touring bicycle ride in the world. What an exciting day - watching 15,000 riders role in while listening to the band right outside our door in our dog run. It was the first time LeClaire hosted this event and we hope to see it again soon! Cirque du Soleil - Saltimbanco has traveled the world and in April, stopped in LeClaire, Iowa! We were thrilled when the acrobatic and amazing group stopped by River Pup (to play with Dixie). Another first for our store was enjoying all of the Christmas in LeClaire festivities. We started the weekend with our grand opening including a ribbon cutting. We went through many Snickerpoodle cookies and Gingerbread dog treats! Wish lists were filled out and sent to Santa Paws. Our donation tree (buy a bone ornament for $1) was a huge success. A special thanks to everyone who donated. All of the money was given to the local Humane Society.
